The Hunt is a frenetic VR First Person Shooter with melee mechanics set on a fictional village and based on african mythology. The village was being devastated by a terrible drought and food shortage when a hunting group managed to hunt a big prey, a golden fur boar. The boar ended up being a sacred animal, who's death caused the wrath of the god Wakale, who sent his hordes of minions to attack the village. Embodying Ayira, the village's young shaman, the player must face mythological beasts and defeat the God of Death and Hunting to save her loved ones and her village. The Hunt is a project made by students from ESAT Valencia and a team of musicians from the Berklee College of Music under the moniker Wise Wasp for Unreal Engine 4.
My main tasks:
- Player mechanic implementation: Full implementation of both shooting and melee weapons.
Implement all the player weapons in the game including all their mechanics:
One of the ranged weapons has a high rate of fire and poisons enemies on hit.
The other has a loaded shot resembling of Metroid's that hits on an area and deals huge damage.
The meelee weapon is a sword that can be used to both attack enemies and parry/destroy enemy projectiles.
- Audio implementation.
I designed and implemented an Audio Manager that allowed the team to easily script all the music and ambiental sounds the levels in the game needed. For the music I implemented a simple layering and crossfading.
- Level Design and level scripting.
I was the main designer for one of the levels and did all the scripting for audio, enemy spawns and other events that take place in the level.
